Hi! I’m Doyle Sanders, just a guy who is living his life.
Personal
I’m married to Lynn, my wife of 38 years. We have two (2) adult sons, with whom we co-own a successful, full-service IT business.
I graduated from college — the first time — over 40 years ago with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Wow! That’s still really hard for me to process that it’s been that long. I went back to school six years later and earned a degree in Computer Science. Then, about 14 years ago, I earned a masters in Information Technology Management. So, I guess I consider myself a lifelong learner.
My life is driven by my values and my principles. Being a Christian and a person of faith, my honesty and integrity are extremely important to me. These are the foundations of my values and my principles that guide me daily. While I certainly don’t claim perfection in my life, I do strive to continually be better today than I was yesterday, with hopes of being even better tomorrow.
Professional
I’ve actually had three distinct careers so far — starting in the juvenile justice / social services area for six (6) years. Then, with a Computer Science degree in hand, jumped into my second career in the retail corporate world, in what was formerly known as “Management Information Systems” or MIS, which we now refer to as Information Technology or IT. And, finally, after 25 years, I “retired” from the corporate world to begin my encore career and become an entrepreneur by starting my own IT business with my sons. For the past 10 years, this business has been providing products and services to many (well over 300) small-to-medium sized businesses and organizations. We started this business so we could apply all that we’d learned in our professional careers in more focused and impactful ways.
Conclusion
So, you may be asking yourself, “So what? What’s this website, the blog, and the social media links have to do with you? Who does this guy think he is and what does he think he’s doing?” Well, there certainly are some self-proclaimed experts in this world in the areas of life, values, principles, mission, vision, leadership, management, technology, business, entrepreneurship, career, success, and more. I don’t claim expertise in any area, really. But, what I do claim is that I’m just a guy who has lived a reasonably good, normal life (hopefully, with much more to come) and I have experienced a lot of things in this life (refer to that list a couple of sentences back) that might be helpful and applicable for a few people. I learned from some great mentors personally and professionally, along my way, I’ve attempted to “pay it forward” to others who could use a hand, some encouragement, and just someone to listen to them. To that end, I will be putting as much of that as I can muster into the blog on this website as well as on my YouTube channel, on my Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter accounts with the hopes of making available what I do have to anyone who might see value in it.
I am doing this because, as much as I admire some of the experts in the aforementioned areas, they’re not me and I’m not them. I’ve learned that I’ve had to cut my own path in my life. I can’t use the same path or roadmap as these experts or anyone else for that matter. And, I also realize that I’m not you and you’re not me, and you’ll need to create your own path in life, too. But I do think we can learn from one another, so let’s give it a shot. This will be a journey that I’d like to take together with you!
